It was another day that we went out with the man who always help to build up Singapore's Economy. (In case you do not know who am I talking about, Check my Feburary Post on "Meeting with Money Squander".)
In fact, yesterday's objective was to get labtops. But I'm not the one who is getting it. It was for 3 people Pok Yen, Song Guan and Guohao. Mr Tan Chee Boon always like hanging out at IT Show, so he came along. Yi Sheng and I were just tagging along.
We met as early as 11am, at a time when the sales has not even started... As a matter of fact, the purpose of the meeting time was to have an early lunch. We went up to the Marina Square Foodcourt for our meals. Song Guan would be joining us later, so we waited for him in the foodcourt. When he finally arrived, we still have to wait for him to order and finish his lunch...
Ok, off we go to the crowded area.
The first booth we went to was ASUS, and the 3 people who are getting labtops could really stay over there for more than 30 minutes... Yi Sheng did not really mind because he could pick up some IT knowledge from there. Mr Tan and I just stood somewhere near and less crowded to wait. Finally, when they moved off from the first booth, they headed on to another booth and enquired for at least another 30 minutes... Mr Tan and I waited again... Same thing happened again at the 3rd booth. This time, Mr Tan and I decided to walk through the hall. However, after around 40 minutes, we came back and the guys were still talking to the promoters! This time, Yi Sheng joined us and walked to the other side of the hall. And that was the time Mr Tan started to buy things...which he claimed to buy for someone else. Now, it's our turn to wait for Mr Tan...
Mr Tan showed us a Small Media Player from China (Those kind like Creative Zen MX), which none of us had heard before. He spotted a slot at the side of his player, which appears that a SD card should be able to fit in. However, the standard size of a SD card could not fit in. He went around asking. I thought it would be better to ask the person who sold that player to him. China always produce anything 有的没的... And I can guarantee Mr Tan that no one in the IT Show would know what the hell is that player... And I was right! Haha. When we continued shopping, we came across a booth selling iPhones. However, the banner was completely in Chinese, and you could the promoters too... They claimed that they were selling iPhones, but I checked that the interface was completely different, and was more atrocious... Obviously, it is a scam! How can the organiser of the IT Show allowed such booth to be set up?
After waiting for Mr Tan to get his stuff, we went back to the Laptops Trio and went up to the second hall. Over there, the 3 started their powerful negotiations again, while Yi Sheng and I came across the L.G TV playing Korean Music Camp, and it was Wonder Girls singing "Nobody"! Haha, they were so pretty. After walking through the second hall, Mr Tan, Yi Sheng and I decided to go outside to wait for them. Almost everyone waiting outside was sitting along the corridor! Mr Tan and Yi Sheng found a corner and sat too! I refused to sit... So after around 30 minutes, the 3 of us decided to went down to the Fountain Terrance Foodcourt to sit, while waiting for them, and I could have some desserts to fill my stomach for a while.
When the Laptops Trio was finally done, Guohao left for another appointment and the rest came down to meet us. It was time for dinner by then, so Mr Tan suggested Aston, but the queue was horribly long... Can't wait anymore. In the end, we went to Just Acia.
That's not all, folks! Pok Yen still need to get camera for his Dad! Luckily, we were not going back to the IT Show. It was another roadshow in Marina Square. And so, we waited for another one hour for Pok Yen's superb negotiation skills to get into the promoter's head. Although we waited for quite some time, I still have to admit that he is really good! He got the best deal in his years of experience! The deal was so good, even Mr Tan was hypnotised and he went on purchasing it. Yes, he bought it not because he doesn't have one. It was just because of the good deal Pok Yen made... He admitted that he still have a one year old camera which is believed to be brand new...
Finally, on our way back... We saw Guohao talking with a bunch of people in Citylink Mall's Gelare. One of them happened to be Ms Mak, the ex-TPJC Chinese Teacher. Mr Tan was reluctant to chat with them, but one of them spotted us, and so the chat went on... Yi Sheng didn't speak much, so it seemed that he was standing there waiting for us... I chatted with Ms Mak for a while since I have not been seeing her ever since she left the school...
Finally, and really finally, we were on our way home. When we reached Tampines, Song Guan wanted to take bus because he was pretty exhausted. But I was quite tired of waiting, and I now I have to wait for bus?! Haha, but I don't really mind taking it. Pok Yen still prefers saving that $0.19 and so, Yi Sheng, him and I walked home instead.
Indeed, it is not good for people to wait for you for so long. But we could really understand that Pok Yen, Song Guan and Guohao are getting laptops, and they must get the best deal. Since they have got it, we should be happy for them! But we were too exhausted back then... Haha.
