The Japanese Karaoke was... ROCK!!!

This is my second Japanese Karaoke Session.
BEWARE: Another damn lengthy entry.

The first session was dreadful. It was the session with the NUS Comics and Animation Society during my first year. It was with a group of 6-8 people, and none of them was people I really knew. Hope it would be a session which I could really make good friends with similar hobbies. I was really quiet meeting new people, and I was hoping people would extend arms and talk to me. But everyone just sang their songs and I totally could not really stand the awkwardness. Luckily, I had another appointment and so I could leave early. And after that session, I never went back to the club. There was another reason: After 2-3 gathering sessions with the club, the president of the club failed to recognise all the new members. The number of the members at that time was as good as the number of people enough to make up for a EXCO Committee, so I don't see the point why the president failed to recognise any new members like us. The number of new members at my time was only around 5 people...

Back to the topic! Yeah, this time, the venue was not the one I went during my first time. It was at even nearer place at Somerest, a "rundown" building (the old shopping mall architectural designed building, similar to Roxy Square in Katong) behind OG. I never knew that place actually exists within Orchard. My bad! This time I guarantee to myself it would be way more fun that my first time since I meeting with my Japanese classmates peeps for the very first time outside the school..... I think.

The turnups are He Fan, Cliff, Arnold, He Ling, Shao Qi, Yin Ling, and the last minute sneaked in Woon Hian (Woonie). Yes, again, I broke my promise and organise this time since I really want to make it happen. The first thing before the session, I was supposed to meet He Fan to lookout for any suitable cakes for He Ling. But he could not wake up on time. So Cliff and I went to look around instead. It was rather quick when we saw some potential ones and we became aimless souls again until He Fan came. Good thing, the others were late (within my expectations), so we could also bring him to see our selected candidates. We planned to get it later since I did not ask the Cash Studios if they have service to hide our cakes. I just purely assume not as the Bedok branch do not even have a fridge.

He Ling finally came after 30 mins and we went down to Centrepoint Foodcourt to have lunch. After that, Shao Qi came, and then Yin Ling. When we finally reached there, Arnold was already waiting. Haha, the funny thing was I was not really organising whole-heartedly, so I kinda forget to get phone number from Arnold and hoping Cliff has it. But he did not! Luckily, Arnold has Cliff's number. Weird huh.

Arnold, who the first one to reach, was asking the reception if there is an reservation made under my name. But the problem is no. Because I always had trouble when the person over the phone always gave the irritating "what?!" when I said my name, so I just made up one name that came to my mind when making reservation: Richard. Then when we got into our room, everyone started making fun of me already. Yeah, sort of the entertainment I'm giving... unexpectedly.

Finally the fun... I mean the real fun begins! There were some highlights of the more fun parts during the session.
1. Video Taking - Arnold started taking video of me when I started singing dramatically, and everyone else later when we sang one more time, one more chance.
2. Can you feel the Love Tonight - This song was picked by He Fan. But the MV was totally not contextually nor visually right as it was full of footages of Japanese girls in bikini and the shots always revolved around their chest and lower part of the body. Everyone laughed till exhausted...
3. Woonie - He sneaked in after around 30mins. He selected some songs that totally made everyone high. Rather the songs are just pure raps all the way. "Danjo" and "ROCK OVER JAPAN". The songs themselves are not really high, but we just love to make it high and fun out of it. We just shouted all the words that were emphasized throughout the song. Like "Danjo" and "ROCK"!!! (which suggests the title of the entry).

Halfway through the session, I got a phone call and went outside. When I was about to walk back into the room, I saw one familiar figure inside the next room, it was Shermaine, another fellow Japanese classmate! And I saw Ying Hsuan inside that room too! Haha, then I called her to go see who's inside our room. Well, details not important after that.

We were being chased out after 4.15pm. Thanks to the sneaky act Woonie did, we were only charged for 7 people! I thought we could sing till 7pm, but the branch was far too popular and we have to give up the room for some other group... The plan was ruined since I could not get the cake for He Ling, but I somehow managed to get the group to Starbucks so that I could at least get one small cake for her. I also did not really get to find out what she likes. I went with the so-called safest chocolate... muffin. In the end, she thought it was awkward to be the only one eating and plus the muffin was far too sweet for her. I became the awkward one... But she did let everyone to share around.

We went to Kinokuniya to look for some books and since it was Japanese bookstore. Haha. Just nice all of us and some of the otakus like me will definitely go to the manga section again. Shao Qi and Woonie went off after that and the rest were deciding where to get dinner. We went back 313 and in the end landed in Food Republic. Good! Another cheaper meal for me! He Fan got himself mixed rice again (He got mixed rice for lunch too). But it was $9! Probably the sotong he ordered. Moreover, he bought another drink (think was just lime juice) and it costed as insanely as $2.50! He was emoing for such exorbitant prices. Haha.

Shortly after our meals, we still sat around to chat and I was leaving for toilet and I saw Darren Peh! He needed to accompany his Japanese friend so he could not make it for today's session. What a pity.

To end of the day, He Ling, He Fan and I wanted to watch Rise of the Guardians so we went to Cineleisure to check it out, so we parted ways with Cliff, Yin Ling and Arnold. However, there was no timing on Sunday... So we also went home after that.

The day continued in the Facebook event page where people started to recall the fun moments. Haha.
Then finally someone realised one thing... WE DIDNT TAKE ANY PHOTOS!!! ><

The End

The Ice Cream Hunting Adventure

It was an abnormal day for me to wake up early on Thursday morning when I am not even going to the gym! I miss gym so much... Haha. But I'm still down with flu, so should not really push myself to exercise. But that day was the day I accompanying my cousin down to hospital for some regular appointment. And the doctor just ended in 5 minutes, saying that there is no need to come down anymore. What a day to waste my morning. So I decided to make use of the trip by going back to school to print some stuff! So nice to see a completely empty COM1!

I also arranged to meet Cliff to watch Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X (For those who are not familiar with the ORIGINAL Japanese Title), not sure if he would want to watch it, but I want to watch! Hehe. But at least he would not spend his time in his room doing nothing.

The only earliest timing for us to watch was 3.55pm. There was another at 1.00pm, but we reached there at 1pm, and we had not taken our lunch yet! So 3.55pm was the only suitable choice. We then wandered aimlessly to find a nice place to eat. I was suggesting Japanese, since I think they will have a wider range of healthier choices.

But once we saw Ma Maison, we just headed into that restaurant. The set lunch was awesome! Nicely prepared and cooked. We took our time to chat so that 2-3 hours could just pass without doing a lot of walking around. We left a nice 40 minutes for a long waited Creme Brulee McFlurry. It tasted like popcorn with all the butterscotch taste in it.

Finally it was the movie time, it was a nice 2h 20mins movie. I actually like the prologue with all the blood splashing scene. It was quite horrifying how they actually shot it, but I convinced myself those are fake. Haha. But that was the really well made and shot sequence in the entire movie. Most of the other scenes were actually shot in studios, unfortunately. I thought they will have a higher budget to shoot in some real settings. Nevertheless, still love that theme song!

After the movie was dinner time, but the late lunch we had had not completely digested. And we wandered aimlessly again in Bugis. But as we stepped out of the cinema, we found ourselves outside Subway, and there I saw several familiar faces. Those are the Indonesians I knew in NUS. And seriously, what the hell are they eating in Subway outside the school? The mystery was unsolved till now...

Since we are in Bugis, I just think it would be nice to just go Tom's Palette to have another round of ice cream. However, although it was around 7pm when we got there, none of us was hungry. We sat down somewhere and chatting again. It was just nice we decided to go eat nearby at Qi Ji at 7.50pm, just nice before the store closes.

Then the second round of ice cream madness! But frankly, Tom's Palette ice cream could really satisfy my craving, or the cheapest alternative for me to feel better when I emo. Ice cream is definitely a good but unhealthy way to fight emoness. But who cares? I do like ice cream a lot, and eat it quite often when I was young. It was a good way to end of the day.

Normal Talk is Short. Bitching Talk is Long

Thanks to Alvin, everyone in the gang turned up for another fateful round of bitching session! But because I still not recovered from my flu and sore throat, I suggested having sushi. Hence, sushi tei! We decided to call for many side dishes and share instead of choosing our own main dish.

The damn funny part was when one of the order was misheard. Instead of Salmon Sushi, the waiter served Salmon Sashimi and Wilson just naturally picked up one piece and enjoy it to his satisfaction. Alvin quickly corrected the order and the sashimi was taken away. Wilson earned one piece of sashimi!

Everyone was like so angry and not much chatting was done when we eating. But the really bitching stuff started towards the end of the dinner. Wilson was really bitching without reserve. Even the presence of Alvin's 12 years younger brother did not keep his vulgarities in his mouth. Yes. We were talking about many recent happenings, and I even almost had a tiff with Wilson. Haha. Luckily, the awkwardness resolved quite fast. But still an enjoyable bitching session. 

We were wandering next venue to have our dessert. Went Kim Gary, took one group photo! Then thought of going to Kung Fu Paradise for Custartd Bun, but shockingly, it was closed down... Talking about bad fengshui all over again... So the last place, McDonalds. 

I decided to try out the small cup of Milk Espresso, Macchiato. The taste was alluring even with my nose blocked. McCafe is still not bad after all.

The bitching session continues there. But then suddenly Jonathan, Xiujun and Leeanna appeared! Joel, Alvin and Aloysius left and were sort of replaced by the 3 of them. Another awkward situation! Yeah, it is quite sad, Jiunn Kai, Yi Sheng and I felt a bit awkward since it had been a long long time since we seen and talk to each other. Russell and Wilson are different since both of them made up another gang with the other 3. But the bitching session just continued! Talking with them again made me realised how long was the time when Jiunn Kai, Yi Sheng and I used to play with Jonathan. Nostalgic.

Too bad we did not get to take photo.

Yi Sheng and I walked back home. We then realised most of the things around us have gone for the worse... Emo...

Final Year - Current Progress 3

Lecture notes.

Sorted. Tidied. Kept.

Ready for the next semester.

Yeah, not really.

The first half of the final year was done. No improvement or whatsoever. The same old me without motivation. I finally decided to stand firm onto my belief. The belief that would only allow me to get a Third Class Honors when you are so close in getting Second Lower Class Honors if I had put in more effort to seek for help and not to learn everything on my own. 

Nevertheless, I'm really not sure if I would make it if I really put in the effort. Frankly, I had some during those few weeks of my Mid-Term Tests. But I ended up getting sick severely. Is my body that weak or there is some supernatural force trying to prevent me to get my academic goals? 

This semester was actually my third time having 6 modules. The first time was my Year 1 Semester 1 when I failed GP and the English Entry Test and had to take an extra English Module as a result. It was quite okay as the workload was not too bad. The second time was okay too since the sixth module I took bear only 2MCs, half of a normal module in NUS. This time was really the pain, and I totally conceded defeat. 

Just have to sadly say goodbye to my desired grades. 

As it's for time to emo, it's also a time now to enjoy the relax moment now. 

The day I ended my last paper of the semester, is also the time I had my first outing of the holiday. But sadly, I had a bad flu and sore throat, so I didn't try to speak so much and had to isolate myself as much as possible to prevent germ spread (though I think the better alternative is not to meet them). The gang officially named 34GB. Not because we like to have our thumbdrives to have a size of 34 Gigabytes (not possible anyway), but it consists of 3 gals and 4 guys. Yeah, we supposed to meet up to plan for our itinerary for our cruise trip in January. In the end, is just more talking cock session. Haha.

The second one was just yesterday. Not sure how to name the gang, but it was a new gang introduced by Russell. It is also another gang of Poly students except Russell and I (Yeah, the other one is 34GB). It was supposed to be a BBQ session but the fear of the rainy session forced us to drop the idea and went for a lunch buffet at Novena's Korean BBQ instead. However, Russell did not turn up probably due to the sianness over his DOTA game. Again, I was still sick, so did not really eat much. Then it was a movie session of Life of PI. Not really sure why I heard many good comments about the movie, but I think the CG was really bad... =P

Today is going to be the third. Looking forward to my bunch of bitchy friends! 

Things to do during this holiday.

1. Continue drawing a picture of all my favourite game characters

2. Attempt to draw my first manga

3. Try ways to improve my school project (to benefit my next semester)

4. Study Japanese

5. Finish my Music Chart and publish on YouTube

5. Pass IPPT

6. Stoning

7. Play more and more games.

Looking at this list. More likely number 6 and 7 would be the most easily granted. Haha.
