Yesterday, I made my first step into a salon for my hair-cutting. I made this exception because I got the Kimage $20 discount voucher in the goodie bag from the last Flags and Flashes Nite. Ming Jie, therefore arranged a time to meet out, along with Jinqing. Gladly, he chose the outlet at Tampines Central.
When we finally found the outlet, which is located just opposite the Tampines Stadium, we are welcomed by the receptionist, who said that we have to come back 30 minutes later since all hairstylists were busy at that moment. Sad. And so, we went to Century Square Coffee Bean to have a drink. As we are chatting, Jinqing told us his trip to Japan, Korean, Indonesia and Vietnam during his sailing. He bought us each a pair of cute chopsticks from Japan. I was so envy that he could go to these places for free. But he also encountered many unhappiness when working with his crew. It is really the fact that there are ups and downs for whatever job to do. All I can say is that we have 6 weeks left! Must endure!
We walked back to Kimage after that, then we are served by 2 hairstylists. The one who served me really look like the 2nd Superstar Winner, Darren Tan! Haha. He first studied my old hairstyle and gave a lot of weird expressions, and I know he kept more of his expressions to himself when I looked at him on the mirror... He cut my sides first. When he reached the stage of cutting my fringe, which is expectionally straight and short, more like a bowl kind of hairline, he started to give his opinion. He asked who cut my hair previously. I could not say is me! The reason i cut the hair myself 1 week ago because my officer said my fringe and the sides are too long, but I think it is a waste of money just to cut them, so I foolishly cut them.
Since I could not say my name, I used "Army Barber" to lie and he gave the "no wonder" look. Haha. He then brought me to wash my hair, and his massaging skills are superb! I was so going to fall asleep after his massage! The last step was to blow my hair dry and done up by waxing my hair. It was so amazing. I finally had a hairstyle that I never had before! I was really satisfied, he could actually change my hairstyle even though my hair was short. Sadly, that outlet is closing down soon, and that crew is moving to the second outlet in Tampines which at 201D and it is even nearer to my house! Haha.

Flags and Flashes Nite 2008
Yesterday night was a terrible event. It was a night where all of the Navy people of our vocation were gathered together and have fun, of course there are also many who are on their duties, so not all came. As for my batchboys, only Darrell, Wee Khiang, Ming Jie, Willy Yeo and Pei Yi went for that event. Other people I knew who went for the event are: Larry, Laifa, Yang, Mark, Garry, Gan, Steven, Iris, Ivan, Jin Long, June, Song, Marcus and Keith Ong. Of course some of those above mentioned are Department Chiefs. My previous and the present Senior Instructors in the Training Centre were also present, Mdm Chee Soy Fong and Mdm Ng Bee Bee. I'm still glad that Mdm Chee actually still remembered who we are, and we took photos with her.
When we found out that Wee Khiang is sitting with us, we are very happy since he can get himself away from Iris. I'm sure if it is Shaun she will request someone from her table to swap places with him. Anyway, when we were all waiting for the Guest of Honour, Chief of Navy, the hosts played some games with the audience and really brought up the high atmosphere. But seriously, those old auntie waitresses really spoil the atmosphere. Haha.
The feast finally started when GOH arrived and the speeches were over. The kind of dishes presented was no different from the ordinary Chinese Wedding Dinner, except that the quality of the food is lower. Sharing the same table with me were Yang, Larry, Mark, Laifa, Ming Jie, Wee Khiang, Garry, Gan and Steven... Fortunately, we knew each other, so the dinner was not too bad. Unfortunately, for Marcus who is the only representative from his ship had to sit with Keith Ong who is also the only representative from his ship, and therefore Keith kept chatting with Marcus, and I could see the victim was quite helpless... Poor Chief.
Then, as the dinner started, my Chief Mark have already ordered several glasses of beer and wine. And there was once he wanted me to toast Iris! The lady I ever hated as she always bully my Khiang Khiang! And I also needed to "betray" my buddy, saying that it is him who wanted me to toast her. I managed to pull that off once, but my chief wanted me to do another time... Sorry buddy!
In the middle of the dinner, there was a programme on stage and had received many cheers! It was actually a man acting like a bar top dancer! Initially, we were all disgusted, but when he said he did for entertainment purpose, everyone was relieved and cheered for him.
As usual, dinner like this will make my vision spins. But this time was more vigourous, maybe because I drank more wine this time. Sigh. That should be the worst spinning vision I had. I had the feeling I was about to get drunk, but I still have my consciousness, I still remembered what I have done... Does that imply I still can take more glasses? Hmm... Better don't. I really don't want to get drunk.
As the dinner was about to end, I can see Mark and Iris can chatting happily. I almost pictured a couple of lovebirds. Eww! I can't believe I actually imagined that! It is like a doomsday to me if they are getting very close... Luckily, we are about to ORD...

Being a Housekid
I have taken leave these 2 days. And during these days, I have transformed into a "Housewife", replacing my sickly mother. The worse, my brother have also fell ill, and he still insisted to go for school... Now, it is my duty to take care both of them.
The first day, I washed the clothes, using my mum's traditional handwash method. She always like to let the clothes to hang dry from the water-dripping state instead of squeezing them as it will create folded marks on them and ironing will take more effort. However, my grandma came at the instant when I was about to hang the clothes. Her way of doing things: Carelessly and half-heartedly. The moment she came, she said she wanted to help out and... There she goes, squeezing the clothes and nearly made mum fainted...
Grandma dropped by just to deliver our lunch. Oily fried fish, salty braised pork and fried onion egg soaked in oil... and made my mum and me drank several glasses of water after our meal... Next, I swept and mopped the floor while my mum can have her rest. She will get up every now and then watching the clothes, and make sure they are well soaked in the sunlight. This is what made me worry, but luckily dark clouds came yesterday and today, and so she can forget about making the clothes go sun tanning and can just lie and rest.
When she feels better, she will get up and help me with the meal preparation, because she knows that I do things as slow as a snail especially in the kitchen. But I can't help it since I'm not skilled in handling knives, so I must be extra careful. I can always remember the time when I cut my index finger with the knife and blood kept dripping down. I was still in secondary school at that time if I remember correctly. Haha.
Then, washing the plates was my last mission that night, which I considered the simplest task since I did it most of the times. The only difference is that I had to clean up everybody's instead of mine only.
Today, I went to the market alone in the morning to buy my breakfast and vegetables for today's dinner. After I came back, I had some free time for myself since my mum only sweeps and mops the floor on odd days. Then, I washed some clothes at the same time when I was bathing. When I have done, my mum had already heated up the leftovers from yesterday dinner and that became our lunch of the day.
After that, mum wanted me to prepare the vegetables for tonight's dinner and that is when my neck stiffened and got a terrible headache. But I can't stop myself from tilting my head downwards when doing housework. In fact, whatever I'm doing, my head will look downwards and that is when my neck got strained, and headache will soon develops as you strained it for too long. That is my problem, and my mum's too. Still, I cannot let that headache brought me down. When I finally prepared the vegetables, I can rest for a while and my mum can do the stir-frying since she insisted to do it.
That is all I can do to take care of her these 2 days, and tomorrow I have to work, but luckily is just a half-day. I hope my mum can rest and not do anything tomorrow before I come back.

Tempering with Time
The life onboard the ship is getting bad to worse. More strict rules are laid down by the higher authority and really make us feel that it is impossible to live there for long.
The problem is not on the rules themselves, they are quite simple to adhere to them. The root of the problem is the people you are working with. I've been working there for 10 months and I starting to understand why people are bad-mouthing the ship. It is because those words they've said are true! But still, you have to understand and learn all the behaviours and habits of all the people onboard that ship to get a clearer picture. And it is because most of them possess unfavourable characters, you will feel that working with those bunch of people is as if you living with fear everyday.
Those people always like to do things their own way and it usually opposes the rules laid down by the higher authority. When those things are handed over to you, you will have to carry on from what they have of. If things are not written down in black and white, it is as good as pushing the blame to you when things goes wrong!!! However, it is an undeniable fact that different people come from different backgrounds and it is one of the reasons why people behave in the way they are now.
Recently, I also met some family problems.
I've come across this NDS game which involves manipulating the past and which would change the future. The game is entitled, Time Hollow. It is about a high school student, Ethan Kairos who inherited a Hollow Pen on his 17th Birthday. However, on that same day when he received that pen, he also lost both his parents. It turned out the main antagonist of the game also possessed the same pen from his family, and he used it to change the past which is to "erase" Ethan's parents. Ethan took his father's pen and used it to set the things right back again. (This game attracts me because of the anime style and the gameplay similar to the famous Gyakuten Saiban from Capcom. Haha.)
It would be great if I possess one too. Then, I can turned everything it is now to a better condition. It is said tempering with Time is a dangerous game because a small change in the past can cause a very big difference in the future. Things can also become complicated when you can take something from the future and place it to the past or vice versa. It is better to let nature to run its course. Having realised that, I still wanted to change the past! Change into a future where I can live a better life than now. Haha. It is just a wild imagination.
