A Dinner for Our Boss!

It's been quite a long time since Navy CSC last gathered for a dinner. From the previous entries, the last dinner was to celebrate Ming Jie's birthday, which didn't turn out so well. This time, the dinner was quite an enjoyable one. It was with the same people who came out for MJ's birthday...

The objective of this dinner was to celebrate Darrell's birthday. I have already started to call up people at least a week before his actual birthday, but the response wasn't good. Therefore, I have to turn it into a belated birthday dinner. I was wondering the next dinner spot, then Ming Jie said the Birthday Boy wanted to eat at Hanabi Restaurant, which is a Japanese Buffet Restaurant. There is one Branch at Katong Mall. I was like, "Huh?! Where is that place?" Actually, it is situated near Parkway, beside Roxy Square... I thought since Birthday Boy requested it, so I went ahead with the plan.

I started calling people again, and the response was great, almost everyone could make it (except Junyan who always claims to be Busy...). Wee Khiang and Cheong Guan are free tenatively. When I asked them again, Cheong Guan told me he needs to attend to a family matter, so he will not be in Singapore for the next few days... while Wee Khiang still remained tentative. So, I guess we will have 7 people in the end. However, Alvin SMSed me when I was on the way saying that he has last minute OT! It became the usual 6 people who came out Ming Jie's birthday. Haha.

Darrell was not sure of the dinner spot when we chatting online today. I was puzzled. Didn't he requested to eat at Hanabi? It turned out Ming Jie has been putting words into his mouth! Darrell has no even the slightest idea of what the Buffet Restaurant is!

We were meeting at 6.30pm, and that was what Ming Jie suggested to me. In the end, he turned out to be the latest! And yet he claimed that people will definitely turn up late... Kai Yan and I reached the earliest at around 6.20pm. The hungry guy couldn't wait for the others and went in ahead and ordered Sashimi... Darrell and Potato later called me and came in a bit later than 6.30pm. At around 7.05pm, Meng Yong called and asked for directions to get into the restaurant. But he went to the wrong venue!!! He got mixed up with Katong Mall and Katong Shopping Centre!!! Soon, Ming Jie turned up... at 7.10pm... Wow, NICE for someone who said to meet at 6.30pm... Meng Yong called again, saying that he was at Katong Plaza. Potato advised him to ask for directions. But I still ran over to pick him up. Then, he kept complaining how complex the street is! Haha.

When the 6th person finally settled down, the half of us was already half-full! A lot of funny things started to happen once Meng Yong arrived. There was once when we completed an order to a waitress, but Meng Yong, who has just arrived, has no beverages, she kindly asked what drinks would he like to have.
But Meng Yong answered, "Oh, that's all."
The waitress became puzzled and exclaimed, "HUH?"
The next moment, the whole table started to laugh...

The second funny thing happened when Darrell couldn't find his cup of cold Green Tea. Strangely enough, because everyone has their own cup of tea. What happened to the mysterious missing cup? Actually, Ming Jie thought he was drinking a cup of cold tea, when in fact he was having a hot one (The cup used for hot Green Tea is different from the one used for cold one)... The thing also happened in front of the waitress... And there were many funny things happening in front of the waitresses, and we thought we would be condemned after this meal. Haha.

We treated Darrell for this dinner. Mervin made his appearance after we exited the restaurant! Actually, the CSC group consists not only the 10 people, but also Mervin and Darren... The actual fact that in so many CSC outings, I didn't call them is because we feel some distance with them(It could be just me who is feeling is way)... Kinda feel bad actually... But I will never forget them! They are part of the CSC gang!

We chatted for a while outside Katong Mall and went back home. I went back with Kai Yan, and again, we stayed quiet throughout the whole bus journey...
