The End of the Second Week of December 11

BEWARE: This is another awfully long entry.

It seems this week went a lot faster than the previous week. But the progress of the artist test that I'm supposed to complete for the application to the summer programme isn't going well.

Monday:
Had a Tim Sum Buffet with Yi Sheng, Joel, Russell and Jiunn Kai in Swatow Seafood Restaurant in Toa Payoh. At the start, we could get a lot of food since we were sitting very near to the kitchen. But somewhere in the middle of the course, an idiotic Foreign Waitress took over the distributing of the food. She always skipped four tables (that included us), made the four groups very angry. Our tables were empty most of the times and she still did not serve us! Some of us lodged complaints and the boss-looking guy went to remind her about serving us. The boss was not even shouting or reprimanded her in a harsh tone, but she just gave us an irritated face. The boss could just jolly well fire her seriously.

Joel had to go back to study after that. The rest of us went to had a spin in Jiunn Kai's family car. Later I suggested to try the Legendary 老伴豆花. It was around 7pm when we reached the Old Airport Road, and it was regrettably closed. So we had another spin and finally decided to have the last day offer in Starbucks in Kallang Leisure Mall. We gossiped and chatted from 8pm until the store closes at 11pm.

Wednesday:
I went down to Orchard early evening. The first time stepping in there since the exams were over. Jingyi and Ruixian were somewhere buying birthday present for Soo Ming. I helped them look around for balloon for the belated birthday girl in Orchard Central. Such a big shopping mall, okay not very big in fact, and I could not find any florist! I looked from Level 1 to Level 8 and found nothing. There was no use looking above Level 8 as they were all restaurants. In the end, the only pathetic looking florist was hidden in Level B2!!! The worst was there were not many balloons. So I met up with the gals and were brought over to the Centrepoint to get it from the balloon professional shop! They really sell any kind of balloons you want! We then went to meet the couple, Soo Ming and Clement back in OC.

We had a meal in Medz where I was introduced to this Rosti Potato. (Yes, I never knew what is Rosti until now. Readers can laugh if you want. Haha.) I had the Rosti and a humongous sandwich which costed me $16. I haven accounted for the hundred bucks present which was shared among 5 people. Ruixian left shortly after the meal, the rest of us went to Playnation to have some 2 hours of Wii time. Soo Ming treated us this playtime. Wow, touched.

Jingyi having another clubbing time with her other friends, so we accompanied her to Orchard before she parted with us. I walked around with the couple in the ION Orchard for a short while before we finally decided to go home.

Friday:
It was an impromptu night out with Luvena and Fang Qi. I could only meet them after my dinner at home. We had a Hong Kong comedy movie, East meets West 2011 at Century Square. The cinema theatre was pathetic actually. Initially, we thought we were the only ones that made up the audience members. But there were 3 more couples. Halfway through the movie, one couple left, the other two did not expressed any signs of interest to the movie, and Luvena fell asleep. Only Fang Qi and I were the ones laughing all the way.

Saturday:
It was a relative outing down at the Orchid Bowl in Yishun Safra Club. Yes. I'm having a bowling session with my cousins. The timing was awfully weird to bowl at a dinner time which began at 6pm and it lasted till 9pm. As all of us did not have any dinner beforehand, we bought some snacks while playing. We all had our dinner at 10pm with their parents.

Sunday (Today):
I had a morning cycling with Luvena and Fang Qi at SunPlaza Park. Immediately, once we had rented our bikes, rain began to pour. But luckily, the rain went on and off for a few minutes, we could still cycle without getting completely drenched.

After getting home, my brother wanted to visit a warehouse sale down at Eunos. I went with him to look for the coffee shop that was used to shoot Already Famous. The two of us were stupidly excited when we found the place... Anyway, when we reached outside the warehouse complex, the rain started to pour again. But we could not reached the main entrance in time when we were running to it. So we were completely drenched terribly... What a day.

Tuesday:
This was the only day I worked on my artist test. But the progress was not good. There was no inspiration or whatsoever... I had some time to work on it during the rest of the days, but I procrastinated... Sigh.

Another week, gone. Two weeks plus more for me to complete the artist test......!

The Karaoke Week - Part One

This week I had two sessions of karaoke with two different groups of uni friends.

The first one was organised by Tingting. Although the session was fun, the organising process was still tedious from what I can see in the Facebook comments. Tingting still need to pester people for replies. If it was me, I think I will emo on the day itself. I'm amazed that she still got the energy to "自high" during the karaoke session. She also had the cheek to be late by 30 minutes!

The karaoke group only comprised Tingting, Russell, Ann Soon and I. It was my first time singing with Ann Soon as he sings damn well!!! Frankly, I was a bit demoralised for the first time in a karaoke session, and after I recorded my own voice and realised how disgusting my constipated voice is. Despite all these, I still like singing after emo for a while. Haha.

Jaclyn joined us for dinner. By the time, all of our throats were exhausted and tired. We took quite a while to finally decide what to eat. We settled down in the Chicken Pot in Bedok Point. It was advertised in TV, which is nicely hung up to feature themselves. After eating, I've only have one conclusion. Not Nice At All.

We walked all the way to see the Bedok temporary bus interchange to see Ann Soon off. The rest of us took MRT home.

The Karaoke Week - Part Two

This week I had two sessions of karaoke with two different groups of uni friends.

The second one was the outing that I felt frustrated organising it. Like I said, if I had a difficult time planning for an outing, I still be emo on the day itself. Moreover, one really became sick this morning and one went MIA. So a group of 7 people became only 5 people. That's not all, 2 more will be terribly late. In the end, only Alex, Wen Man and I had to stay in a boring room for the first half of the session.

We were having our karaoke in Teo Heng NTU Alumni, which was located up on a hill. After the short hike, we were still lost, dunno where to find the place, not even the reception. With my exploring expertise, we were still able to find the place within 10 minutes.

At first, I had no mood to pick up a mic, because I was stuck with two people who don't really sing much. No, one of them had never stepped into a karaoke room before. But luckily the forever joyful Wen Man encouraged me to pick up and sing. Felt better after singing a few songs, even though I sang terribly. I then encouraged the other two to sing. So coincidentally, the two Bukit Timah dwellers know many English oldies songs, so they picked a few and sang happily. For a first timer, I think Alex sings well. But both of them would purposely sang exaggeratedly to create an entertaining effect. Thanks to them, I finally got to know more nice English oldies.

Melissa and Michelle came later, separately. That was the time when the atmosphere suddenly became higher. Alex and I just have to watch the girls having their girly mad time. We also asked Alex to put in more few songs, so that the oldies duo can entertain Melissa and Michelle. For me, I was watching the music videos, hoping to remember the melody of the songs. But I was really turned down by most of the "fake" music videos with all the scenery and the "male gaze" effects.

All the planning had gone down to waste. Because in the end, our singing ended late and we had dinner down at the coffee shop opposite Bouna Vista MRT. On the way home, I told them our fate will finally be sealed here. But Michelle suggested another outing, I quickly backed out , fearing the organising part again. I don't mind another outing, but some part of me tells me that this will not happen. That's just life. People like to say but no action is done until someone takes action. That someone will never appear.

Anyway, the fate is not going to be sealed after our outing. Because I've forgot to bring the compiled CD of the rehearsal photos and videos! So I need to make another extra effort to call and distribute the CD once the other semester starts...

The another funny thing is I have brought a camera, but no group photo was taken! Only this. =D

Quit: Say No to Organising

After the hectic semester, I finally realised the harsh life of a Year 3... Not easy at all. It might be easier if I did not take a wrong module...

Earlier post I have mentioned that I have taken theatre studies as my breadth module, which I still enjoyed very much. I still do even I think I screwed up my theory exam (An exam that requires a student to write 4 essays in 2 hours). Everytime I thought of this module, I could not help but wonder why I always take an arts module when I hate writing essay so much. I must tell myself this is the last module that I will ever take.

The final practical exam for the theatre studies made us practised crazily. Like other modules I took, the fate with the project mates from other faculties will end right after the exams. But this is module is not. Well, at least after this surprised suggestion from one of my teammates. She suggested to go sing karaoke after the exams. And the finger pointed to for the organising job was none other than me. "I got the Organising face meh?!" Since people were cooperative when I sent messages for rehearsal, I gave in, just take the chance to distribute the CD that has all the photos and videos we taken during the rehearsals.

But things are still the same, no matter what kind of people I faced. Be it Facebook Event or SMS, there are always some people who still don't bother to reply. You need to explicitly mention their names to hear their replies such as "Yupps.", "Ok.", or "Anything".

This is just an instance. When people don't really reply you and you carried on planning, these are some of the most irritating things that can happen when they suddenly reply you!
1. "Sorry, I'm not free on this date. Can make it after x day x month?"
2. "x day x month? I can't. Ask can the other person which other days he free?"
3. "This place? I went before, can find other places? I'm ok with any other places."
4. "Sorry, forget to reply."

On the outing day itself:
4. "Sorry, I forgot I have something on. Not going anymore."

Plus, I always have 70% chance running into this special case (My pure misfortune):
5. "I'm sick, cannot come anymore. I'm really sorry."
The last instance is the worst when you can't really feel irritated and can't blame the guy, just have to blame yourself...

There are also people who like to give some hints that they are not interested at all. For such person, since they don't care, you can also freak the hell care about that person too. For example, if you decide to plan early so that you will have the opportunity to "book" that person in advance. When those people can not be so sure if they are really free, you can tell yourself that person don't really care that outing. If they really care, they will update you constantly AUTOMATICALLY, and not you keep pestering for replies.

After encountering these things again in this theatre group of people, I really give up on organising. Safe myself from unnecessary agony.

Why things are always so different when I started organising?

If they think I keep pestering people for answers and are sick of me planning, why still call me to plan?

From what I see, it seems that the organisers are the ones who are not appreciated at all... So no matter what comes to me, I will just say NO. Like a boss.

Note to some other organisers out there:
If people really do care about meeting out, then they will be cooperative and your job will be much easier. Otherwise, if you find the planning is tough, just give up since no one cares about meeting out.

Sorry if I have offended anybody, just using this to vent my anger.
