Busy, Busier, Busiest: An Entry with 4 Events

It's been 2 weeks since I last updated my blog. During these 2 weeks, a lot of things happened and it can be said to be my longest 2 weeks in my life, and I hardly touched the computer...

Firstly, I went to attend Ming Jie's Alumini Band Concert held at Victoria Concert Hall on 2 Aug. As usual, my usual CSC gang and Jinqing were called to give him our support. The concert was not bad actually, the only problem lies on the order of the music pieces they are performing. The first part of the event was filled with classic and soft music, which makes the audience sleepy... But of course to those who can't really appreciate such music (And I fall under that category). During that part, Alvin and Potato were not concentrating on the whole perfomance, they were looking for girls to comment on... Sitting beside the 2 of them were Kai Yan and Jinqing. Jinqing felt awkward to sit beside Kai Yan (who was giving the fullest attention on the performance), and Wee Khiang and I were sitting behind Alvin and Potato. Therefore, we communicated through SMS.

There was one time when potato trying to look at one of the performers on the stage. But he encountered difficulty as the one sitting in font of him was blocking his view, so he laid on Alvin's shoulders. It was just so happened that one of the girls sitting in front of them turned her head and looked at them... Instantaneously, the girl gave a disgusted look and turned back. And there, we have another joke to add into "Potato's Jokes of his Life".

Right after the emcee had announced the time for intermission, the entrance doors were opened. Beyond the doors, fireworks were blasting over the sky of Marina Bay. Then I realised that, that day was the rehearsal of the NDP, which now makes sense of why so many people were hanging around that area.

The second part of the concert was more on loud and energetic music, mostly performed by the percussionists. I enjoyed most of the pieces. It was really incredible to have all graduated students of Temasek Junior College to gather together and to even hold a concert. Look's like they have nothing to do!

For the next few days, Ming Jie and I were extra busy with our work and we even worked OT without earning money extra for it. It was really tiring for that whole week and I hardly get any sleep.

Colin also told me he will be sailing for overseas deployment soon, so I need to arrange for Alvin and Colin to meet asap. Luckily, I can get them to meet on 7 Aug. Alvin wished to dine in New York New York since he has not tried the dishes and not having the chance to eat at the place. I called Shaun to come along so as to make the meeting less awkward, and in fact I have not really went out with him since we are split into different vocations.

I felt very bad when Colin was quite left out in our conversation. I tried to talk about other things so that he can join into it too, but those topics were damn short, and is quite hard to continue talking about it... I really feel very sorry for him. Previous post, I have mentioned that Colin bought a present for Alvin's Birthday which falls on Feb, and that mystery gift was a Fossil watch!!! 3 of us were extremely shocked! Alvin really could not accept the gift, but Colin insisted him to keep it. Alvin told me that he feels very uneasy after keeping it and decided to buy a gift for him during Christmas. Most probably, he will get something with the same value as the watch. If he really going to get it, I hope I can chip in some too. I think I'm also held some responsibility...

That night, I thought I have some time to relax during weekends. However, My unluckiness caused the whole computer to be infested with trojan... So no computer for the whole weekend!!!

Luckily, Russell called us out on Sunday as he got the discount coupons for the Singapore Flyer, and each of us had to pay only $10. It was rather a short night. We met up after sunset, and had our dinner in the Popeye. This time, the company consists of Russell, Jiunn Kai, Wilson, Chee Jeng and Joel. It's been really long time since all of us meet, especially with Joel. They all looked pretty frail, must be those Army guys make them suffered so much. Wilson is always the busiest guy among us, and has endless number of complaints everywhere in his country. We heard from him that he and Qian Hwee have set up a small company together and he already has his name card done! His appointment is Creative Director... Like...Wow!

Immediately after our meal, we purchased our tickets and hopped onto the Flyer. And even though the ride was said to be last for 30 minutes, the whole wheel was moving in a fast pace and everything ended was fast. It was not the most fantastic view on the top for sure as there are lots of construction going on within the area. After the ride, we were being led into the gift shop where you can find all the Singapore Flyer Souvenirs selling at Shockingly High Prices!!!

After that week, I had another 2 consecutive days of duties as I swapped my duty with Chung Kit since he needs his tuesday to do his clearance.

Another arrangement needs to be made before Wee Khiang sails for his overseas deployment (Which happened to be the same as Colin's). I planned it on 13 Aug and I got to find a place that is easily accessible and is a nice place to chat in. At first, I thought I will be expecting more than 10 people, so I chose Billy Bombers in Marina Square. However, MSG Eva said it is not very accessible, and thus suggested somewhere in Bugis. I knocked off early from my work that day, and I met up with Wee Khiang early to find a place, and I chose MOF in the end.

More disappointment came in a last minute notice, Cheong Guan claimed that he had a headache, Alvin and Meng Yong were held back due to a afternoon sailing, Potato was called to sail the day before and Ming Jie suffered from a serious throat infection since last Saturday. In the end, there are only 7 of us. Mervin is a "touch-and-go", busying with his real career even when he is not yet ORDed. As for Darren, he sat there quietly and did not really talk that much (Another similar case as Colin's). I thought he could take that chance to catch up with Potato, Darrell and Ming Jie, but most of them were not present... Sigh. But I'm still glad that both of them showed up. Meng Yong wanted us to wait for them, and he made in just in time when Mervin left and we were about to call for desserts (Speaking of desserts, the food there are really nice! Highly recommendable!). We have also discussed about the chalet we are going to have after we ORD, and MSG Eva is really looking forward to it!

Another week has gone, and next week will be another busy one! Tired, Tired and Tired...
