Internship Peeps!

No Brain, No Idea

It was really damn lucky for me to be in this internship. I heard that I was actually a replacement for a dropped-out who once requested him to take night shift due to some unreasonable commitment. Hence, he was deemed unsuitable for the internship and that was why I am here!

As an intern, the group of us is assigned to a project. After the first meeting, I was seriously thinking if I am really fit to be an intern in there. Because the guys from Digipen are incredibly smart in their field, and they really gave wonderful suggestions and questions. As for me, I was quiet for the whole session, and my whole brain just went blank for the whole time... I tell myself, "Yes, this is the time where I can learn from my peeps." But I have never expected them to be so damn good. Well, there's NUS for you. My course is seriously not focused at all. This explains why our course is closing down...

And it think it is best for me to be intern in the position which does not really requires much prior knowledge. Otherwise, I think I will just waste the company resources... Not that I am negative again. I am just wondering how much I need to reach their level since I am a slow learner.

Anyway, back to Private Investigator progress, well... no. Still have no idea how to design the other characters. Guess, I have to really set the target time for me to complete further. Overall, ideas do not really just come out by itself when you feel like it.

What?!

Strangely enough, after blogging about the intention I'm going to make. I have received a phone call saying that I have been offered a position in the internship in Lucasfilm! Things always take an unexpected turn in my life when I decided to do something else...

Well, since it is a rare opportunity, why not? But I did not have the courage to ask why a rejected person was called back... Maybe I will one day.

So far, I have been there for only 3 days. A lot of things need time to absorb. But my brain is aging faster than I expected. My knowledge absorbing rate has been decreasing ever since NS. But I will definitely try my best to learn as much as possible. And I will never stop what I have intended to do. The only concern is that I will definitely progress in a much slower rate, and most probably impossible to complete everything within these 3 months. I have finished other character, still squeezing my brain to think of other characters...

Private Investigator

I always tell my friends, "If I cannot work for experience, I will work for the money." This means that if I could get an internship, I rather find a high paying part-time or temp job. Well, if I could not get any of this, I will work for my own experience.

While still waiting for replies from some companies that I have applied for (which I think is quite impossible to get in), I think is better for me to create my own game. Even though Flash is going down with the emergence of HTML5, I chose to create one Flash-based game. A very simple one. So of course, RPG is definitely out of the list. I have chose to a text-based game. Just like the famous ones in Nintendo DS such as Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney Series) and Professor Layton Series. It may seemed like an imitation of both of these games since the game will be very detective-like. This game is titled as Private Investigator.

I'm not sure if I am able to complete within these 3 months since without a deadline, I am working very very slow. Right now, I have only completed the main character design. And yes, the design looks pirated as well. Oh well, who cares, the game is only for my own experience!

I have decided to put up my sketches.
The Rough Sketch of the Main Character: Phillip

The Rough Sketch of the Second Main Character: Isaac

The Various Sketches

The Final Design: Phillip and Isaac

The Game Logo

The rationale of the naming of the character was simply taking the initials of the Game Title: Private Investigator. Thus, Phillip and Isaac. As for the story, it will be a murder case, and it is still writing in progress. Hope I can get something done faster...

And the cycle goes on again...

Gosh, I know that I have not been regularly update the blog ever since the semester starts. No, in fact no posts at all! Well, since there is no point writing one sentence in a post or it is boring to update normal things that happened in the school...

I would say that the emo-ness struck again upon me. The history just keeps repeating itself and I really don't know how to get out of it.

This semester was no different, or perhaps slightly worse than the other previous semesters I had (except the semester when I scored a SAP of 3.90). The Reading Week I had was "well-spent" on my 2 assignments and I practically had 1 day to prepare for an exam that starts on Saturday. And one day for each of my core modules as well, and less than half a day for my Unrestricted Elective, Japanese Level 4. I seriously don't know if I should be happy that my exams end early this semester...

The studying process was ok, but when it's time to face the exam paper, one word always perfectly described my reaction: Stunned. The questions never failed to give me a surprise heart attack. Sometimes, you thought you got the basics but you totally have no idea how to even start to tackle the questions! Some questions can be done if I am given sufficiently longer time to do. But the time given obviously was not enough.

The most frustrating thing was when you are sitting in the middle of 2 zai kia, and they are your friends!! Not only that, when you think the paper was rather challenging, after the paper, one of them came to you and said the paper was fucking easy! I immediately gave a big sigh inside my mind... Again, I found myself blaming myself for not having the brain to think as quick as them. I know perfectly that I should not think so negatively and different people have different brains, but I just hate the feeling of "Accepting the fact", and I can do so many things to improve myself. Then again, when comes to a subject that I have not much interest on it, I will tend to procrastinate... My life is always full of these shitty dilemma, dilemma and dilemma.

Another worse thing was I can't even get one internship. Probably have to blame myself for only applying 3 super-hard-to-get-in internships...
