RT Sessions (1-15)

Since 12 June 2010, I have been attending Remedial Training (RT) in Bedok Camp. The training basically is split into 2 phases.

Phase 1 (8 Sessions a Month / 2 Sessions per Week)
In this phase, there is only 6 Trainings in total because the first is only a briefing, and the last session is the IPPT Re-test. In a way, it is actually not enough for us to pass the first Re-test... Those who could not make it through the first re-test, would have to "promote" to Phase 2 automatically unless you defer it.

Phase 2 (12 Sessions a Month / 3 Sessions per Week)
This phase is slightly better as one more session is added, so you will exercise and train more! Another difference is there are 2 IPPT Re-tests in this phase - One on Session 14, and the other on Session 20. The training is also slightly tougher, and I think Bedok Camp should really do those kind of training during phase 1. No wonder so many people could not make it through the first phase...

During the briefing session, I was approached by a guy who commented how lame and boring RT is going to be during the briefing. During the second session, he saw me and approached me again, and introduced himself to me. He called himself, Ash. And the third session onwards, along with his other friend (whom I still don't know what his name is), we sort of became RT partners. He is quite a heavy smoker, so he would disappear during breaks to smoke secretly somewhere. So probably that is the reason he called himself Ash, and not because of the main character in Pokemon...

Out of the 6 trainings, I only remembered seeing him 4 times. And he thought of using some kind of methods to pass the test. The last time I saw the 2 of them was the first IPPT Re-test, which was the last session of phase 1...

During my Phase 1, I also saw 2 familiar faces among the phase 2 people - Joel Lian and David Tng. And so happened, both of them knew each other in RT and became partners. What a small world...

After my Phase 1, the whole batch of us went immediately into Phase 2, except for Ash and his friend. In this phase, I found myself another partner, Hui Yong. This guy has another friend who he knew him during Phase 1 as well, and till now I still don't get his name... The 3 of us became another RT partners. But Hui Yong's friend did not really attended the scheduled trainings, he always go for the makeup trainings. The 2nd Re-test just ended last week, and none of us still can make it through... And all 3 of us are planning the worst scenario. To down PES? or To take IPT? or Just carry on RT next year?

A Buffet of Crab

I never had a buffet dinner with my family. Thanks to my brother's treat, we finally have this chance. We mentioned the Japanese Buffet in Suntec City, Kushinbo, which triggered my mum's interest. And so, we head down there on Last Thursday and went in at 5.40pm

It is the same Singaporean mentality when you first entered the restaurant - To grab as many plates as possible and never considered whether you can really finish them. The only special thing in the dinner buffet is the Free Flow of Japanese Snow Crabs! So 1 person is charged S$39.90++.

And of course, the crab was our "Main Course!!" I started with a bit of Salad, Fried Finger Food, Tempura, Sushi and Sashimi before chucking one whole plate of Snow Crabs. The crab was really juicy. You can really taste the Japanese Sea!!! The juice oozing out from the shell was salty, but since it was from the Japanese Sea, the salt wasn't bad enough to make you dehydrated.

After the crab feast, it was 8.30pm. By that time, I was already quite full. So I went to have some Chicken Ginseng Porridge and a few spoons of Japanese Fried Rice. My brother wanted to wait and rest before grabbing for desserts. However, I needed to go with the momentum. If I stopped eating, I might just give up later on. But anyway, my brother also couldn't wait for so long, so he went to take 2 full plates of cakes, chocolates, tarts and mochi; while I took 2 cups of Hokkaido Ice Cream. There was one Strawberry Fondue Fountain in the middle of the restaurant. Customers are free to dip the desserts in there. So while taking some food, I have already dipped some Marshmellow and ate them on the spot.

To our disappointment, the other desserts were not really tasty as it seemed. After clearing half a plate, we were reaching our limit and was pushing them to the max. Luckily my mum, who has rested for around 30 minutes, finished up when it left around 1/4 of a plate. I really thought I'm going to throw up when we finally exited the restaurant at 9.20pm. Haha. I think I really went all out to put on weight since I failed my IPPT on Wednesday again.

The next day we did not have any breakfast and just had a little bit of porridge for lunch. However, my brother just got stomach flu this morning. It seemed that the buffet had really upset and weakened his stomach, so virus could attack it. Poor Thing. Hope he recovers fast.

Counting Down

Fast. Soon. Immediate.

It's just 1 more month before the brand new annual year starts for NUS students. As expected, nothing much was accomplished. Lazy and procastination just keep bugging me. So far, I have only touched a bit on Adobe Dreamweaver CS4, Japanese 2 Lesson 14, and CS2100 Webcast till Lecture 3. I should be expected to sprint on and try to read as much as possible.

As some of my friends have known, I have already started my RT in Bedok Camp. I have just finished 7 sessions, and will be having my first IPPT Retest on Wednesday. If I can pass, I will be "graduating" from the training. Otherwise, I will need to continue for another 12 sessions...

Organising outing will be out from one of my "hobbies" soon. I have been arrowed for 2 times to organise outing for CSC and VeNoM for this month. I happily sent messages to the CSC guys and I always get 2 or 3 people replying and none from the others. When I sick of waiting for replies, I fixed a date and people then start to message back claiming that they will not be free on that day. Or some still carry on being mute. I know they are busy, but is it so hard to get just one reply? I seriously think I should just let it go. This should be the last and I should not falter again. Should I be expecting the same for VeNoM...?

百萬小學堂,誰能比我強!

Almost this whole week, I have been watching 百萬小學堂 on YouTube. Or perhaps, you could say I'm addicted. I must admit that too. I really enjoyed watching every episode which lasts for 2 hours!!! So imagine how much time I have spent on it just to watch every episode. And of course, I have not finished watching EVERY episode.

The most addictive part of this programme could be the entertainment factor. But to me, I think is the kids. I must first state that, I'm definitely not a paedophile! Is just that, watching how they react to the situation are very funny. They are already mature in some way, but they still retained some naive, innocence and purity in them. Really admired them. How time pass so fast, and I have to face such cruel world so fast... I really wish I can go back the past and learn more things, and make my childhood more colourful...

Taiwanese kids are really something. Although their English and Mathematical education are still no way close to our standard, their eduation system still allow them to learn so many things since young. Their CCA selections are really incredible. There are so many to choose from, so the kids can have some foundation on other talent even if their studies are not good. This probably why so many Taiwanese Variety Shows are able to invite many kids to perform.

The kids are also required to learn things that we usually learn during our Secondary School Age. Subjects such as Chinese Literature and History. The programme usually features questions like "Who wrote this chinese poem?", "What does this stanza in this poem means?", "How did this person die in this novel?", "How does this idiom come about?", etc. I have stunned by many questions of similiar kind. I'm really really impressed by them. Moreover, they are also learning First Aid, Geography, the History and Origin of the other parts of Taiwan, and even how their Taiwanese Government System works! Definitely more stressful than Singaporean Primary School Students!!!

Singapore Education System is totally different. Most of the things mentioned earlier are mostly taught in our Secondary School Age. But these subjects are just too boring for me... Or probably we could say that the teacher made it very very boring... (Thinking of Sec 1 History Lesson...Zzz).

Those who are keen to know more little facts about Taiwan or other things are highly encouraged to watch this amazing programme, and be impressed by the kids!!!

News Spoof: Hang on, I'm still on the Phone

We interrupt the usual Blog Entries with Special News Report.
This article was adapted from the Sunday Times on 7 June 2010.
I have created an alternative title:

Hang on, I'm phone-ing!!!
(Taken from the Famous Commercial: Hang on, I'm Bueno-ing!!!)
Be mindful of rampant use of phone in the company of others, say etiquette experts.

The boyfriend of Ms Tan Ah Lian, a designer, is upset.

When they are out for dinner, Ms Tan, 21, has a habit of using her iPhone to send tweets to her more than 90 Lians, or chat with friends on Facebook.

They bitch... talk about everything - from food she is eating and the place she is at, to random thoughts that come to mind.

"My boyfriend keep asking me to talk to him loh, and wants me to stop talking to my friends. He is so irritated that he even threatened to ignore me leh! SIAO one," she said.

Like Ms Tan, more people just cannot resist using their mobile phones during meals, meetings and classes - in fact, just about anywhere - to text, tweet and use Facebook.

Ms Aifone Luver, a Sociologist who supported Ms Tan, said that this is "not necessarily a bad thing probably because her boyfriend might be as boring as a stick, so she just has to find ways to entertain herself."

But etiquette experts say such behaviour is considered rude and disrespectful if it is done to extremes.

Etiquette coach, Heads Tuuitting, said such activities should be minimised, even in the company of friends, as they may be disruptive or seen as rude.

But Ms Chip Chatty said engaging in phone activities can be fun for some groups. "I've seen young people hanging out in cafes, showing their tweets to each other or playing games together. It's part and parcel of their growing up."

In business setting, the use of the mobile phones for any purposes is a transgression, etiquette gurus advise.

Some companies also ban staff from using social networking sites, as such employers usually see employees bitching... gossiping through those sites, mainly talking bad about them. How bad their fashion sense are, how ugly they look, how unfriendly they are, no wonder they are still single, stuff like that.

Mr Fassbuk Hore, a managing director of a recruitment firm, said Social Networking sites like Twitter and Facebook have become an acceptable way of communication. His firm encourages employees to network with one another and clients through such sites. He even promotes employees to socialise to him during work more as he enjoys gossiping too. Employees will also get special paid bonus to those who give him really savvy gossips about the colleagues in his company.

With mobile phones becoming more advanced and cheaper (To those who can afford it will definitely feel this way) to get it, it is difficult to stop rampant use of the applications, Heads Tuuitting said.
