Royal Caribbean - Legend of the Seas (Day 1)

Just when I thought I will only have one Grad Trip. Yeah, I have only one. The one I am going to write was my Pre-Graduation Trip.

It was the gang of 34GB that persuaded me to go for it. The gang of all Poly students. Well, except me and Russell before we joined. So the trip made the rest their graduation trip! I was reluctant to join in as I thought we were not really close enough to have the trip together. And most importantly, I was more reluctant to fork out so much money for the trip since I will have another one which will gonna require more money. But one of them said, "Is not the destination that we care, is the company that matters!" which totally melted my heart. So easy to convince me, heh?

So eventually, the trip became a cruise. Not Star Cruise, but Royal Carribean.
The trip began on 3 January 2013.

The first day was just to be onboard ship for the whole afternoon before it set sail when the night falls. The departure venue was the very newly constructed Marina Bay Cruise Center! Never thought we would have this chance to embark from there! Although is new, still small I would say since it can only allow at most two cruises to dock alongside. My cam whore and excitement began straight as soon as we stepped into the center, even on the gangway, inside the ship and till the cabin.

The sign looked so Airport!!!
The surprised thing for the ship was the fact that the casino was built in the middle of the ship, and you need to pass through the casino in order to get access to the other side of the ship. If there are children, you need to go through the outdoor way. So weird. And I think they purposely let us walk through the casino to induce the gambling minds inside the passengers. Well, Singaporeans are indeed famous for their crazy gambling habits.

Windjammer Cafe
The first lunch was in the Windjammer Cafe where it always serves in Buffet style. I quickly helped myself with a little starter dish with some salad, hams, cheese and hot hog. They were all damn salty though. Then had some heavy main dishes and desserts. I was freakishly full with all the meats I had. I would not say the dishes are really delicious, just pretty normal stuff.

After lunch, we continued to explore the whole ship and cam whore around. We took the most time scrolling on the upper decks, looking at the skyscrapers erecting in the land of CBD of Singapore. Soon, dark clouds began to draw near above the ship from Singapore. It actually looked pretty ominous to me. Enough talk from here, cos it started raining after that. And we took shelter and explored the indoors.

The Ominous Skyline
As the rain became a small drizzle, we came out of the comfort zone and played Foosball and the outdoor miniature golf. While playing the golf, the ship finally let go off the secure ropes and started departing. With my friends playing golf, I sneaked away quietly and watched the ropes being released and the ship slowly steered to the side. Everything reminded me the Navy times. A total nostalgia.

The Performance Stage
Our dinner start at 8.15pm, so we could watch the opening performance by the cruise director, Dan Damian aka Dan Dan Mian, and the cruise performance team. It was a really good dance and sing musical I would say. The dance featured all sorts of dances like Spanish, Flamenco, Latin, Rumba, etc. Really can't see this standard of performance in Singapore. Really brilliant.

Dinner time! It was a Fine Dining. We had an assigned table for us, even personal waiter and assistant waitress! We could order as much as main course as we want, but they can only serve one at a time since is fine dining and there are table manners. The main courses were great, except mine. I ordered Chinese dish and did not turn out as good as American style. Everyone called my dish in Zhu Chao style... Anyway, the dessert was nice!

After that, we went Viking Crown for a open Karaoke session. I did not sing any! Find that surprising? Tingting, Ann Soon and Huishan went to sing instead. It was past midnight after the session, and we all went to bed!

That's all for Day 1.
