The Gang with the Usual Routine Part 3

Last Sunday was the last weekend of the month we can come together for a half price movie! Therefore, Derek, Fang Qi, Luvena and I came out and went to City Hall. Luvena brought us to Shokudo the Japanese Food Bazzar situated at the Raffles City Shopping Mall Basement. When she said we are going to Shokudo, I had an impression we are going to a restaurant, but is not.

It is a Japanese food court, with many stalls with huge varieties of Japanese cuisine. You will be issued a purchase card, and you will use the card when you make any order, the vendor will scan it everytime you make an order. You will only have to pay when you are leaving the place by giving them the card. The food there taste incredibly great!!! However, the place is actually no different from a restaurant since they still charge service 10% and GST 7%. The only difference is the dishes cost somewhat cheaper than those in restaurant.

We then walked to Marina Square and discussed on what movie to watch at the same time. In the end, we watched Painted Skin, which is an adapted story from 聊斋志异. It was not bad, all the cast acted very well and I was quite touched by the ending.

Once again, after our objective was met, we became wandering souls, aimlessly walking around Suntec City and then we went to Harris Popular to browse some books hoping to enrich ourselves with some knowledge. Then, Fang Qi stumbled onto this book entitled "Chinglish", which features all of the funny translated Signboards and Menus found in China. There is very one short yet extremely hilarious example: 奇异果汁 should be translated as Kiwi Juice. However, they like to translate it word by word, and so it becomes "Strange Juice"!!!!? Who will dare to drink it when Westerners see it?! We really laughed our heads off.

As usual, we went for arcade to play after the laughing session. This time, the others encouraged me to try on different games such as those required dancing... So I tried on something similar to Para Para but no movement of legs is required, you only have to swing your arms above and below the sensors. Not Bad, I thought, considering that I can reached the last song after 2 tries. Of course in the easy mode. Haha.

It was already 9pm plus, and the Shopping Mall got more deserted. (Well, of course since everyone went out to see the F1 race.) We went downstairs to get some finger snacks before we called it a day. The "vrooming" and "zooming" sounds spread across the whole city when we stepped out of the mall, about to enter the Citylink Mall. The noise was terribly loud. But it was something new to hear since it is the first time you get to hear them in Singapore.

Oh no, the coming month our ship crew got a total of 10 duties!!! And I heard November could be even worse!!! Hell of 2 months before I can finally see the light...

Counting Down: 2 Months 14 Days
