The KBox Session for Navy and PRSS was finally here. I thought it was just an normal outing just involving my Navy and PRSS Friends, but they thought otherwise... It was another Birthday Celebration for ME?! How many birthday or how long my Birthday would last???
That afternoon, I came out with Ming Jie and Kai Yan for a movie first. We watched Dreamworks Monsters VS Aliens. Quite Hilarious. Especially the Slime Monster, B.O.B. Haha.
On the way to Plaza Singapura, I spotted Alex and his girlfriend and we were in the same MRT Train, but we had some distance apart, so I didn't want to disturb them so I didn't go over to greet him. However, we were alighting at the same station, and we also seemed to walk to the same destination! Kai Yan and I kinda lost him when we entered the Shopping Mall... Ok, then we went to queue for the tickets. After a few minutes, when I turned my head to check if Ming Jie has arrived, I saw Alex just standing beside me! Haha, but he still didn't notice my presence... So I went ahead and called him. Haha. And we were watching the same movie too!!! Same timings!!! Haha, what a coincidence...
We went straight to Marina Square and only found Alvin there... I called up the others and checked... The plan has changed so drastically in a moment after I called up... The original plan was Yvonne, Luvena, Fang Qi, Alvin, Potato, Wee Khiang and I to sing KBox (And we should be singing till the branch closes which is around 3am) while Kai Yan, Meng Yong, Derek and Ming Jie joined us for dinner. After I called them, the plan became Meng Yong and Potato could not turn up; Derek and Ming Jie joined for KBox, but they would leave at around 11pm along with Alvin... Poor Kai Yan, he has to go home alone... Sorry...
The session was not too bad. But the mic seemed to be revolving around Yvonne, Luvena, Alvin and me... My friends kinda expected me to grab on the mic most of the time... Haha, I tried to give Ming Jie, Alvin and Derek to sing but they just pushed it back to me... Sigh. Poor Derek, we wanted him to sing but he is quite unfamiliar with most of the songs, so he jokingly commented that if there is "两只老虎", he will sing. And we did pick that song for him!!! He was totally speechless. In the end, Ming Jie accompanied him to sing that song. Damn Funny. I know Derek for such a long time, it is actually my first time hearing his singing voice. In fact, is not bad! I'm not a singing expert, but I think Alvin has improved since his last singing session with us. For Ming Jie, I think he can stop acting singing in a funny way... and I have a feeling that he could actually sing well...
The first half of the session was pretty enjoyable. After the guys left, the atmosphere suddenly turned down pretty fast... At that time, the party left Wee Khiang, Yvonne, Luvena, Fang Qi and me. When it was near 1am, the girls were quite exhausted. My voice too... I really sang too much during the first half... I should have just force the others to grab the mic during that time... Fang Qi picked quite a number of high songs for me... Hoping to boost up the atmosphere and to keep us awake. Yvonne left at around 3am since she said she could not stay long... The rest of us continue to sing till the shop closed which was 4.10am! We earned ourselves 1 hour 10 min! But you would have to strain your voice for that duration too...
The four of us were hungry, so I brought them to the Hong Kong Cafe which I thought opens 24 hours a day. But I was terribly wrong... It closed at 4am! We just have to make our way to the nearest 24 hours McDonalds, and the first branch we could think of is at Raffles Place. We walked there for around 25 minutes, and we had our early breakfast at 5am. When the party becomes smaller, and there is a trio of low IQ people, things starting to get pretty stupid... Derek is always the victim. But now, Wee Khiang is the new victim! Haha. We showed him our power of making a normal conversation to a stupid and idiotic one... That buddy of mine was totally speechless!!! So Funny. Sorry for making his IQ dropping tremendously...
The Mission of Dropping Wee Khiang's IQ continued as we were making our way to and waiting at the MRT Station. I was too exhausted by then, I even took bus home... We were expecting Wee Khiang to fall asleep on the train and would miss his stop, and it came true! When I was about to sleep at 8am, he texted me saying that he found himself at Bukit Batok when he woke up!!!

Crocs?! A Brand that Makes Singaporeans Crazy!!!
What was your first impression when you heard "Crocs"?
The first thing that comes up to my mind is just some kind of ugly rubber shoes with some stupid holes on it...
Russell introduced me a job at Crocs Expo Sales. I thought of rejecting it since it is customer-oriented... Thinking of handling difficult customers made me feel so sick and irritated. But since it is a Expo Sales, I think it would not be that bad. Therefore, I just sign up for it, and I did not really think that I would got shortlisted. And luckily, Russell and I are in the same department, and it is considered the most easy job: Packers...
However, Russell and I are separated because we are assigned to different cashiers. At first, I thought the group of cashiers is made up of Temp Staff like what I did at Robinsons Expo Sales years ago, but in fact it was made up of Perm Staff. Each cashier will have 2 packers. Anyway, I was assigned to Counter 7B, to a cashier named Boon Yen Yen. She is a very nice lady. My packer partner is a guy called Danny. He just graduated from Polytechnic and is currently waiting for his NS enlistment. He does not speak much, but I think only when meeting new people.
The first day is the most outrageous. Russell and I arrived at the Hall at around 8.45am on Friday. The sale would start at 10am, but there was already one damn long queue!!! If people looked at it without knowing there would be a sale, they would think that it was just a usual autograph session by a pop idol. Haha.
While waiting for the sales to start, you could already see the Perm Staff shopping for their own stuff. The most of the Temp Staff just stood at their stations watching them and waiting to welcome the customers. Yen Yen told both Danny and I that if she helped us buy we could get Special Price. Haha. But we didn't really like the shoes.
Counting down to the commencement of the sale began, and when the countdown reached 1, the first few customers ran as fast as they could!!! Literally! That also occured during Day 2 and 3... It was that crazy. I also did not imagine Singaporeans like the brand so much... But it was really cheap since the shoes prices ranged from $20-$50 on the first day.
After receiving quite a number of customers, Yen Yen introduced quite a number of designs that they picked to us. Danny and I then quite surprised to see some nice models of shoes, so Danny when to pick one for himself during lunch.
During lunch, Russell also told me that his cashier told him about the Special Staff Price. I was shocked to hear the actual price!!! (I don't think is legal to put up the price here. Sorry!) No matter what kind of shoes the Perm Staff bought at the Expo, it is one standad price for all shoes. Haha. I was quite shakened to buy some, but I really don't like the designs (Except one) and the colour combinations, so tacky and impersonal... Anyway, the meals were catered for us! So it was quite worth it to work there! The food tasted not bad either! You could even get more rice if you still hungry. Furthermore, there were also hot beverages and buns too! But I couldn't believe I would see Joshua Ang's face on the stupid Milo Tin...
After lunch, Russell and I went to look around, I found the shoes that I like. Russell told me to reserve one, but I always think twice before I buy anything. At that time, I just forget about purchase anything for there.
As night falls, the customers who came to our cashier counter started to complain that they could not find any of their sizes or colours! I was so shocked, didn't think that the response was too great... But the response was the greatest for the First Day. For the subsequent days, the responses were not as great. We actually anticipated that there would be more people on weekends that on Friday. However, that was not true. Hene, we came to the conclusion that many people thought there would be more people on the weekends, so everyone just went on Friday instead. Or those experienced customers knew that there were more stocks on the First Day, so they came on that day.
After the first day, Russell and I walked around the Hall and noticed that the Staff in charge of the Pricing started to slash the prices by $5. They said they would slash even more on the last day!!! Then, on the last day, the range actually became $5-$30. Haha! The bad thing was there were not many stocks left.
Throughout the days, you could see the Staff reserved fully loaded bags of shoes for... Not only for themselves, they also buying for their families and friends. Haha, they even got a list of personal "invoice"!
At the end of the last night, we could get ourselves a free pair of shoes. Then, I could not find any of the shoes I wanted, but luckily Russell knew what I wanted and reserved a pair for me. Haha. Thanks! But he could not get what he really wants... As Perm Staff, Yen Yen also entitled for free pairs of shoes, but she said I could pick another one and could give it to me for free! So I picked another one my brother. Thanks a lot! Danny bought some pairs of shoes too, but he don't mind paying at the lowest Expo price. Haha, nice knowing him, since we didn't exchange any phone number or facebook account, when he left, he said to me "有缘再见" .
After seeing so many people bought Crocs shoes... I could not imagine when you go out of the streets, they could be 8 out of 10 Singaporeans wearing it! And when you see people wore the same one as yours, you would feel that there is no sense of uniqueness anymore...
I have so many thoughts after working just 3 days, it was a nice experience. Better than working in Robinsons actually. So I will edit this entry whenever I remember what I have left out!

An Indecisive Night
Last Wednesday was my cousin, Jyn Hua's Birthday. My brother and I decided to buy something for her before we meeting her at night. We went to Tampines to find her present, since now there are 3 shopping malls in the same area, so we think we will have a higher chance of finding one. Surprisingly, we could not find anything suitable for her, and we were actually not sure of what she really wants...
After walking a few rounds in the 3 malls, we settled down at Teadot (My 3rd try!). My brother wanted to try it ever since I have been saying how great the tea was... He ordered the Little Red Fuji, but he didn't like it... I thought it was still ok, but not fantastic. (So far, I think Osmanthus Sunrise is still the best!). My brother said he still prefer Starbucks... and Tea is a his cup of Tea, while Coffee is still his cup of Tea. Haha...
My brother called Jyn Hua's little sister and she said her sis likes Zinc bags... Luckily, there is a branch in Tampines Mall, so we went back to the mall hoping to find one gift for her... However, we still can't decide for her. Since we meeting her a Lot 1 Shopping Mall and there is another branch there, so it would be better for her to pick herself there after we meet her.
When we arrived at Choa Chu Kang MRT station, we saw Jyn Hua with her friends and she was holding 2 presents given by her friends. The presents are soft toys... Later, her mum and her sister came and our First stop: Zinc, and she stood there and could not find anything she likes... Second Stop: The Wallet Shop, and she still could not find anything she likes... Then, we just went the whole mall in circles, and still she could not decide on the things she wants... Sigh. By then, everyone was hungry, so we went to Sakae Sushi for dinner.
The minute we settled down, Jyn Rui kept eyeing for the Kani Maki (Crabmeat Sushi)... We even took around 5 plates! My brother and I were amazed by the appetite of a Primary 2 kid... My aunt decided to try the mini paper steamboat, it tastes great! Love the soup base. We finished up the whole bowl! But the fire was not extinguished, it even burned up the paper!!! After that burned up steamboat, Jyn Hua even requested for another one! I was pretty amazed by the sisters' appetites... In the end, we had a very satisfied dinner (Treated by my aunt), but did not get a present for my cousin... My brother promised her to ride the Singapore Flyer next time...
Before heading home, we went to the newly opened Yew Tee Shopping Point, it was a small shopping mall, nothing much. But I saw Guan Cheng there?! We both like staring at each other, both exchanging "How come a Tampines person would appear at Yew Tee?" that kind of look... Haha.

3 Wonderful Days, Meeting with my Peeps.
It appeared that my birthday did not end at the Surprise Party. That's more! My other friends also called me out last Saturday, Sunday and Monday! Haha, I felt so blissed!
Saturday:
Like I mentioned on the previous post, I met up with Yi Sheng, Pok Yen, Tze Keong, Song Guan and Wei Tian in Tampines 1 for lunch. We went into the restaurant at around 1pm, and came out at 4pm! The chat just went on non-stop. Since the couple is meeting Rong Teng and the others for dinner, they went off earlier. The rest of us found seats at Teadot, and so we (except Pok Yen) had our second try and we tried not to order the same drinks. But none of us like our new orders... Anyway, the cakes still taste awesome!
Sunday:
The meeting was actually initiated by Wilson! I'm still glad that everyone turned up! This gang consists of Russell, Yi Sheng, Wilson, Joel, Alvin and Jiunn Kai. We went to Tampines 1 (Again...) Say Cheesez for our dinner. We went ahead without Alvin and Jiunn Kai first since they had other commitments and would be joining us later. It was another arcade session after our dinner, the balls throwing game could really make our elbows hurt... Alvin rushed up to meet us, but he have not had his dinner, so we went to Kopitiam for him to fill his stomach. Later, while waiting for Jiunn Kai, we sat at the McDonalds to chill out. However, the chat only lasted for around 1 hour as the others wanted to take their last bus home.

That night, I met up with Si Hui, Jiunn Kai and Russell before heading to Sasha's workplace at Raffles City. We had our dinner at a small shop beside Sasha's workplace. The food tastes great, but I did not know what is the name of the shop... Sasha made cupcakes for us! 2 special cupcakes were made for Si Hui and I since we are the Birthday Boy and Girl. We bought Si Hui a sweet and cute looking bag and some clothes, while they bought me a wallet! Haha. Then, it was the usual photo taking session! It's time for her to try out her present that we bought for her. Presenting the Poleroid! It is the first time we trying it out too, so we can't really take good pictures with it... We then went to a dessert shop, and we kinda regretted it because they tasted very awful... More like taking tonic...

Old, Past, History
Yesterday, I met up with my friends who could not make it for my Surprise Party which happened on last Sunday. We dined in at Kim Gary Restaurant in Tampines 1. We got our seats pretty fast even though there was a long queue, but it took quite a long time to serve our food. After our meal, we could even chat till 4pm!
We could always talk non-stop... Mainly talking about our lives when we were younger back then (Sounds like we are so old now... >.<), and a bit on our University lives which are just around the corner. When Song Guan came, I brought up the topic about the students in the school he is currently working in. We then started to compare our younger-selves and those students in that school... It was such a vast difference. The mathematics syllabus is constantly going up, while the emphasis on Chinese is going down tremendously. Even a Secondary 2 student don't even know what is the meaning of "不翼而飞"...
After working in Kumon and taking Japanese class, it was then I realised parents always like to bring their children for tuition. The students I entertained are either stressed by many homeworks or capable to handle many homeworks. But I can only see most of them fall under the first category... The lastest Singapore drama series that is currently broadcasting on Channel 8 is also reflecting such situation. Not only the parents are giving them extra tuitions, but also, I believed, sending them for arts classes such as music and dancing. Maybe I'm being ignorant, but most of my friends around me do not really attend tuitions and still could produce good results, some even got excellent grades as well.
Putting that aside, I also realised that I'm always thinking about my lives years ago, the different chapters that I have been through in my life. Thinking what would happen if I take the different route; thinking about what would my family become if things don't happen the way it is now; thinking about the happy moments that I treasured. I'm just trapped in the past, living in my memories, and living in a fantasy world, things happened in Games or Anime... And I always block myself away from the world's current situation and never really think about my future. I will only react to it when reality really hits me. I'm not sure whether is it the world or is it just Singapore that is progressing very fast.. It is just quite tiring...
