Yesterday, I met up with a friend whom I have not seen him for a long time. Yes, the one who is famous for "Missing In Action", Sze Yuan. Haha.
This time, he is staying in Singapore for a short while to study Japanese language. Therefore, it is a great opportunity to meet out. We chose to meet out at Orchard since he is staying at Bukit Timah which is close to Orchard. We are deciding to watch a movie since we have no idea what to do. We took quite a long time to decide since Sze Yuan has already watched Madagascar Escape 2 Africa, Song Guan has no interest in watching Cape No. 7, and other movies did not really appealled to us. In the end, we chose a movie that we thought is rather silly, Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Surprisingly, the movie is not totally about Bimbos, Fashionable Dogs and the extravagant lifestyle in that city. It is a story of a chihuahua, Chloe, which is having an extravagant lifestyle. But Chloe's owner left her with her irresponsible niece who brought her to Mexico. Chloe's adventure started when she decided to sneak out but got kidnapped by a Dog Fight Syndicate. She befriended with a Shepherd Dog, Delgado, and they are in a run to escape the clutches of the Syndicate and finding their way back to Beverly Hills at the same time. There are a few touching scenes too. This is surely a very nice movie for dog lovers.
We realised there are quite a number of "dog movies" nowadays. Movies like: 10 Promises with the Dog, Bolt and The Hotel for Dogs. Is it because there is rise of number of animal abuse acrosss the world?
Before watching a movie, Song Guan and Sze Yuan wanted to have their late lunch so we went to a Hong Kong Cafeteria situated in the Cineleisure. Song Guan loves the place as it has non-stop of Mandarin Pop Songs, and he will only leave the place until it plays the song he dislikes.
After the movie, none of us has the appetite for dinner since they had their late lunch and I got sick because of Popcorn. We then find a nice TCC to sit down and chat non-stop. Our conversation did not stop even we have parted with Sze Yuan. My conversation with Song Guan really went non-stop, and we were forced to stop it until the bus reached his stop. Haha. It was nice catching up with them yesterday. It really brings back a lot of memories.

Finally! The long waited Anime Festival in Singapore is here! The exhibition will be only held for 2 days. However, the admission is not free and anime lovers are required to pay $5 to get a ticket before they can get in. Still, this is would not stop lovers from going into the exhibition!!!
Generally, most of the stalls are set up by the art studios. There are also displays of many models and figurines, you can purchase some of them too. Most of the displays are Gundam especially, and the organiser actually invited the Gundam Mechanical Designer to answer most of the questions that the Gundam fans may have. I knew a Japanese singer is also invited to perform the Opening Theme of the Macross Frontier, but I didn't stay to watch it. Moreover, there is a Japanese Arcade Game Competiton at the back of the hall. The games used are Tekken 6, The King of Fighters 98 (New Version), and Midnight Tune.
The festival really attracted a lot of fans and made the hall really crowded. And of course, there will surely be Cosplay in such event. Many fans dressed up themselves into the famous characters in the Anime, such as Naruto, Death the Kid, and Lacus etc. But I cannot seem to find anybody dressed up as one of the characters found in Bleach... I took pictures of 2 characters which I am unsure of, but I found them interesting, so I took them anyway.
What disappoints me in this exhibition is that it is very small and the space of the hall is not really used up. To me, I think the space used is only about 65% of the exhibition hall. Those who have been Suntec City should know how big is the hall. Also, I think more displays can be put up too, they should not focus on Gundam and Masked Rider. I'm pretty sure fans not only like Gundams, there should be people who like figurines of other Anime characters. They should also try to sell Anime Soundtracks and musics from Japan, CDs are something missing in the exhibition too. I really hope the next one can be better if there will be another one in Singapore.
The Gang with the Usual Routine, No More
Today, Derek, Fang Qi and Luvena came out for something different this time. It is not about movie, playing arcade, or just eat and chat. We came out to take a look at Anime Festival Asia 2008. But Luvena will be quite left out since she has not much interest on such things, so she has to compromise to go spend $5 with us to look around. So nice! Throughout the walk, Fang Qi and me are the one who are easily fascinated by the displays and cosplays while Derek kept staring at the Gundam models.
After spending a few hours there, Derek's stomach started to rumble since he has not had his lunch. So we headed down to the Basement Food Court for our late lunch at 4pm. Luvena went off for another appointment while the rest of us are planning on where to go next.
Movies? No, since there are no worth-watching ones currently.
Arcade? No, since we are sick of it.
Derek's house? No, since we lack one player to play either Mahjong or Big Two.
Finally, we thought of something new. Go home and rest.
Just as we walked out of the Food Court, I saw Guan Cheng. Then, after we travelled up the escalator to the Ground floor, we saw Jing Jie, and Boyuan and another schoolmate from PRSS. When guys see Army hairstyle, the first that came to our minds are definitely BMT. We really talked our nearly one hour. As we talked, I saw many familiar faces walked passed me. One of them who I waved to was one of my BMT platoon mate cum TPJC school mate Jerome. There was another couple walked passed earlier and all of us knew them since they are also from PRSS, they are Shiying and Dominic, we called them and Shiying waved to us happily but Dominic did not seemed to care.
Then, when the 3 of us reached Tampines, we saw Rong Teng who is obviously waiting for someone. Derek and Fang Qi went home first while I can chat with him and wait for my parents to fetch me. He is waiting for his usual gang, but before I could mingle with Tze Keong and Jonathan, my parents and I had to rush off. It never occured to me that their meeting has a purpose and I only realised it as soon as I got back home: It was Rong Teng's birthday yesterday! And just yesterday I realised last Saturday was Sabrina's birthday! And last week I just realised last month was Ms Agnes Yue's birthday! I feel seriously bad. How can I forget so many birthdays!!! It will be an excuse if I say that I have been too stressed due to my work... Sigh.

Activities After Duty ~An Entry of Reviews~
I was extremely tired after my duty, considering that I only slept 3 hours last night. Then, Kai Yan called Ming Jie to book out together, and along the way out we met Potato, so 4 of us went out and have breakfast at Jurong Point together. We had Wanton and Dumpling Noodles for breakfast. It was so expensive when you said you wanted to add noodles. Well, actually the stall owner prompted you for it. But since I was so hungry, so I excepted the offer. To my astonishment, that big plate of noodles costs an extra $1 with no addition of Wanton or Char Siew!!! Obviously, it is a Daylight Robbery!!!
Potato and Kai Yan thinking of watching a movie since today is a weekday, and it's been a long time since we watched a movie together. They chose to watch Quantum of Solace, which is one of the current movies I have no interest on. But since majority wanted to watch, I agreed to watch with them. And I was right. The story does not have much contents, most of the time were taken up by all the actions and stunts when fighting with the villains. Surprisingly, the movie has no sex scenes at all! I thought the usual 007 movie should at least have one sex scene, or maybe Singapore has censored most of it this time? Hmm...
Quantum of Solace is really an action-packed movie. The actions never stop from the beginning right to the end, and I really mean it literally. One thing quite pissed me off is the opening credits which is a series of animation and a song that played for around 5 minutes. The story is also continued from the previous movie Casino Royale, which I have never watched it before. So I had lots of question marks in my mind when I was watching it. Moreover, the dialogues are short, sharp and sweet, and the characters spoken at super fast speed, and so I had more question marks again. I only recommend this movie for those who watched Casino Royale, but for those who only enjoy pure action-packed movie, this movie is also for you.
Before watching the movie, we have some free time and Potato decided to went back to his aunt's house to change his clothes. The 3 of us decided to hang around at MacDonalds to have ice-cream... When I stood in front of the counter thinking what to have, I saw this big poster advertising the Mega Burger Meals and there is something that disappeared for quite sometime and has now re-appeared. It is used to be called the McSpicy Double, and now it has a new name called Mega McSpicy. It is now sold at a price more expensive than the time when it has the previous name. What do you feel about this?
Anyway, there is also something new on the poster, which is the Chocolate McFlurry. Since is something new, we decided to give it a try. The cost is also expensive. Horrendously Expensive. It is actually a Hot Fudge Sundae topped with chocolate chips and peanut crunch. Oh, and you have to twist everything together since it is McFlurry. This dessert costs $2.70! So I can assume that the toppings cost $1.20?! However, it tastes not bad, quite nice in fact. Then again, I don't think it worth that money.

Steamboat Madness
I have never gotten so sick of eating steamboat in my life. Last Sunday, I went out with Kai Yan, Alvin and Ming Jie to eat at "Chong Qing Zheng Zong Huo Guo" at Bugis, a dinner to welcome them back after a tiring sailing which lasted for 2 weeks. I did not know that place is so famous and Alvin said that once the place is open for business, you see a never-ending queue. The price is also quite reasonable, and there is quite a variety of food to choose, the drinks are also free-flow. The thing that most diners like to do there is to come up with their own dipping sauces. Ming Jie is one of them, but the 3 sauces he made tasted horribly. All 3 of us gave him the weird looks when we tasted, but that "Self-Claimed Sauce Gourmet" still like his sauce. Alvin and I tried making our own sauces too. Only mine won Alvin's and Kai Yan's taste buds. Wahaha!
After that night, Meng Yong SMSed all of our batchboys saying that he will organise a dinner to celebrate his ORD! Most of us feel sad for ourselves as we did not pass our NAPFA during our JC times and thus could not enjoy the "discount" of serving 22 months. Anyway, he told us to meet at... Bugis... Again... He also had no idea which place to dine in, and then we ended up eating Steamboat again! Only for me, Ming Jie, Alvin and Kai Yan... But we dined in a different stall from last week, it is the stall beside "Chong Qing": "Tian Tian Huo Guo". Although the soup base is better, but the selection of food is way lesser, the service is poorer, less efficient and only 2 jugs of awful lemon juice were served... And that is why one person costs $2 lesser compared to "Chong Qing's". Due to the inefficient service, no staff bothered to replenish the sauces, and so our very own "Self-Claimed Sauce Gourmet" could not show off his "wonderful" dipping sauce. Haha.
Since the food selection is limited, I kept eating the same food and got sick of it pretty fast, and so we stopped after dining in for almost an hour. We went to have our desserts at Swensens since most of us agreed to have ice-creams to sweetened our taste buds before we head home.
This year passed so fast. And I'm glad it did. I can finally tear myself away from the tiring life. Of course, that means I will have to be parted from my batchboys and my department Chiefs and Ls. But still, life still have to go on. At least, we will still have each other in our hearts. (Does that sounds mushy?)
